The symbols of Moyon

The badges

Several elements achieved by us allow us to define them.

The first representation dates from Réginald 11 ( ? - 1258). The shield, one hand and a silver arm in front on red background to which was added later a gold fleur-de-lis. Like Réginald (Reynold), descendant in direct line of Guillaume 1 of Moyon, one can think he had an effect on the original shield.

The second representation dates from John 111 (1270 - 1330). The shield, a cross indented in black on the gold front, framed by two lions with an eagle on top. Maybe this change explains better the identification of the battles.

We have no explanation of the choice of these symbols, and also no knowledge of an emblem.

The Logo

Chosen by the Town Council in April 2007, it displays a white M projecting a gold W on a green background.

The W recalls William de Moyon (Guillaume) and his ancient history. The green is his area the Normandy woodlands.

The Nickname

The inhabitants of Moyon are referred to as the Wolves of Moyon. One gives this nickname of mythical animal due to its presence in the Moyon woods up to the XIX century. It was used for a long time by the football team, and now by the baseball team.
