I am trying to trace the movement of my MOON decendants who were Stone Masons building Dunkeld Cathedral in Scotland about 1320 and later building large boundry walls and roads in Blair Athol Estate Perthshire dates 1650 to 1780 before moving to Longforgan being then Blacksmiths. They later moved to Errol and Coupar Angus continuing their craft of Blacksmith. One James Moon was a famous Piper of the Scottish Bagpipes.
Were there MOHUN or MOUNE families known to be Stone Masons in Normandy before travelling to Scotland around 1300's?
Possibly they came to England 1066 for construction of Castles and Cathedrals? Later travelling up to Scotland to build Dunkeld Cathedral.
My Grandmother was Alice Macdonald Moon born 1875 at St Martins near Coupar Angus Perthshire, which explains my interest in the MOON family.
I anticipate someone on your site can help me with the origins.

    Hallo,

Is there any connection between this William de Moyon and the French family Lemoine/LeMoyne?

Merci d'avance. Comment voulez vous que l'on procède ?

We are one of the Mohun families that moved to San Francisco, California. I am trying to trace our family history from Europe to the United States in the 1600's.

I believe my surname (Munn) was first found in Kent in Britain, where the family held a seat at Maidstone (the County Town of Kent). I am informed that the Munn family were descended from Guillaume de Moyon. I would be interested to find out more about our lineage and the family relationship with the Moyon family.

I can trace my lineage to Guillaume de Moyon. One of my European ancestors Captain William Thomas Munson (a descendant of Guillaume) immigrated to America and settled in Connecticut in the 17th century.

In my previous post I meant to write Captain Thomas Munson not William Thomas Munson.
